We had a completely different kind of day this Saturday when Denton Drapes was one of the Sponsors of the MK Dons game against Charlton Athletic. We have been corporate supporters of our local team for the last couple of years as members of their Platinum Club and kit sponsors of former Manchester United winger Luke Chadwick but this was the first time we have sponsored a game.
We were joined by a number of clients, suppliers and supporters for a pre-match tour of Stadium MK. It really is a seriously impressive place designed to the highest standard and equipped to host international football, pop concerts and exhibitions as well as league football. Everything reflects the grand ambitions and vision that Milton Keynes represents. The four star hotel built into the Stadium was the location for a champagne reception where we met with Club Chairman Pete Winkleman and enjoyed a superb pre match meal.
Just before kick-off we had to go on to the pitch for photographs with the officials and team captains. With 11000 people in the stadium it was quite intimidating and I felt very small in the middle of that big pitch. However it was quite thrilling to look up at the big screen and see the Denton Drapes logo on display.
Unfortunately the game didn’t go as planned with Milton Keynes losing 1-0 despite having lots more chances and controlling much of the game. Once it was over we made our way to the Ballroom for the Man of the Match awards. Once again I had to go up on stage for photographs and was presented with a signed shirt by MK Dons striker Aaron Wilbraham.
We think that every business has to be part of the community that they serve. MK Dons is very much a community club and part of what makes Milton Keynes special. Our Easter day out was great fun but it’s back to the Workroom on Tuesday!
